Worldspan – Finalist Case Study
Why did you enter The Investors in People Awards 2020?
Our team is the heart and soul of Worldspan – as a service business, we recognise the value and importance of our team. Part of our ethos as a company is about rewarding, recognising, and motivating our team. Our team recognises the importance of Investors in People, and they understand how it not only benchmarks Worldspan against other companies but also gives us the rigour of continual improvement. The team has been very involved in our Investors in People journey from initial recognition, to the implementation of ideas and improvement, to the pride of achieving Platinum status this year – for them and the company to be recognised as an Investors in People Award winner would be genuinely motivational.
You’ve been announced as a Finalist – what does that mean to you and your people?
We are honoured and thrilled to be a finalist. As a company, we pride ourselves in our values, and our commitment to the team and our clients, and our team are as equally committed to the company. Earlier this year, we were awarded Platinum, which brought a tremendous amount of pride to everyone; to be announced as a finalist for The Investors in People Awards 2020 really is the icing on the cake.
What would you say is the stand out point in your entry?
Our values are at the core of all we. Our team not only wrote the company values, but they embed them into their everyday working life – from rewarding and recognising their peers by adding ‘value’ leaves to our Values Tree to the way we treat colleagues, suppliers, clients, and the work they do with the wider community.
The company values are what support the vision, shape the culture, and reflect what we as a company and the wider team value. They are the essence of the company’s identity and our team to adhere to and ‘live’ these values during their working day.

What would it mean to win?
Winning would mean so much more to the business and the team than just winning the award itself. To be assessed and evaluated by leaders in the field of Investing in People against other companies is not only a reason for us to celebrate with the team their achievement, who are integral to our success, but it also gives us a platform to celebrate with our wider community, to inspire others and to reinforce our business and teams credibility. In such a challenging climate, particularly for a company within the events industry, where we have had to evolve and reinvent ourselves, where our team has had to adapt and change to meet the current environment by showing resilience and strength through our values, the award would truly motivate them and celebrate their commitment.
