
Why did you enter the Investors in People 2023 Awards?
Lyceum of the Philippines University Cavite received the honor of being awarded as Silver Employer of the Year in the Investors in People 2017 Awards in London. This award brought a significant recognition and prestige to the university as it was the manifestation of our commitment to investing in our people and achieving high standards of quality workplace. Inspired by the said award, we joined the IIP 2023 Awards to seek validation from outside assessors if we have made a significant improvement and impact in the lives of our people from the last five (5) years. Preparing for the IIP Awards has been a rewarding experience, giving impact to our university’s organizational culture and employee engagement. It helped motivate and encourage us to create programs and policies that are focused on employee development, well-being, and satisfaction for a more motivated and productive workforce. Additionally, it encouraged us to align our university goals with best practices in people management and development, which can lead to long-term success and sustainability. Entering the Investors in People 2023 Awards is a journey wherein the destination is receiving an award but what matters most is the journey itself of bringing happiness to our people and making LPU Cavite their second home.
What has it meant to you, your team and your organisation to be shortlisted for an Investors in People 2023 Award?
Being shortlisted is a testament to our commitment to our faculty members and academic support staff and our dedication to best practices in human resources and employee development. The Philippine Local Awards alone which was held last July 2023 enhanced our reputation and credibility.
For LPU Cavite Team, being shortlisted serves as recognition for the employee’s hard work and contributions. It boosts employee morale, fostering a sense of pride and accomplishment. It is also an external validation of our organization’s human resource and people management strategies. It demonstrates to stakeholders, and partners that the organization is committed to excellence and the well-being of its workforce.
What would it mean to your organisation to win an Investors in People 2023 Award?
Winning another IIP Award means LPU’s commitment to its people and best practices in human resources. Our people will surely be happy and motivated thus it would mean higher employee engagement and positive attitude towards our students, parents and other stakeholders.
The award means so much to us, as our employees are more likely to feel a sense of loyalty, belongingness and a sense of purpose when they know that LPU is committed to their development and well-being. It can stimulate a culture of continuous improvement and development within the organization.
How important is it for your organisation to be a part of the Investors in People community and engaged in awards and events like this one?
After winning Silver Award in 2017, there was a time when our focus geared towards academic accreditations. But after a while, we realized that it was only thru IIP that we can have access to wealth of resources, best practices, and knowledge related to human resources and employee development. Engaging with IIP allows LPU to stay updated on the latest trends and innovations in people management. Concourse, knowledge sharing and best practice-sharing among others spearheaded by IIP drive us to continuous improvement within LPU.
As an academic institution, being part of the IIP community enables us to benchmark with industry standards and practices. This external validation helps us identify areas for improvement and set performance goals. More so, participation in IIP events and fora provides opportunities for networking and collaboration with other organizations, professionals, and experts in the field of HR and employee development.
The principles and practices promoted by IIP are often associated with long-term organizational sustainability and growth. As we invest in our people, we tend to experience improved performance and resilience, and we saw these thru the commitment and dedication to work of our people, that lead to quality education and successful graduates of LPU Cavite.
In conclusion, being a part of the Investors in People community and actively engaging in its awards and events is important for organizations like LPU which is looking to foster a culture of continuous improvement, as we thrive in today’s competitive business environment. With IIP, we are assured of our continuous commitment to people development, which can lead to long-term success and growth and to the fulfillment of our educational philosophy, Veritas et Fortitudo, Pro Deo et Patria!
