Why did you enter the Investors in People 2023 Awards?

In recent years we have worked very closely with our consultant, Nick Smith, and feel that we have put in a lot of effort to improve our management and appreciation of our people and to raise our standards and awareness of our organisations’ values. We know that Investors in People is nationally recognised and felt this was a great opportunity to see how effective we had been by benchmarking against external organisations rather than only looking internally.

What has it meant to you, your team and your organisation to be shortlisted for an Investors in People 2023 Award?

We feel excited and honoured to be working with such loyal and dedicated staff. Our Board (the Council) are delighted with the recognition that being shortlisted for an award affords to the efforts of both the management team and the staff. As a team we are very proud to be shortlisted; it has made us realise and appreciate how much we have achieved and it has strengthened our team ethos, and it has certainly been a team effort – all our staff have contributed, working together, recognising the strengths of each team member and using those strengths to make us more effective and efficient.

What would it mean to your organisation to win an Investors in People 2023 Award?

To win an IIP Award would, for us, be hugely significant; we are a very small organisation and to even be considered for a national award is momentous. It would be a capstone achievement that we can both reflect and build upon and a very powerful tool for our future recruitment.

How important is it for your organisation to be a part of the Investors in People community and engaged in awards and events like this one?

We believe it is very important to be a part of the IIP community – it reflects who we are as an organisation and the things we stand for. Engagement in the awards and events helps us to celebrate the significant achievements of our people – their team spirit and hard work deserves this kind of recognition.
